Cat saved, no injuries in multiple fires across Seminole, Orange counties

Multiple fires consumed apartments and residences over the last several days across Seminole and Orange counties, as temperatures reach record highs.

On Monday, Orange County Fire Rescue crews responded to Affinity apartments located in the 600 block of N Semoran Boulevard in reference to an apartment fire. According to officials, the fire displaced at least 16 residents from their homes. No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze and the State Fire Marshal is currently investigating. The Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced residents.

On Sunday, July 2, Seminole County Fire Department crews responded to reports of a residential structure fire on Riverbend Boulevard in Longwood. Upon arrival, heavy smoke was emanating from the home.

All occupants and one dog were outside of the home, but the homeowners advised that there was a cat still inside the building. Firefighting crews entered the home and were able to save the cat, named Gato.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the blaze and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Seminole County Fire Department Investigator.
