Champagne, rosé thief wanted by Sanford police

A man who stole $360 worth of champagne and rosé from a local liquor store is wanted by Sanford police.

The man featured in this story contacted the Legacy Liquors, which is located at 200 French Avenue, on July 24, 2023.

According to the Sanford Police Department, during a call with the store, the man explained that he worked with a lawn service that the liquor store used and that he would be coming into the store to pick up a bottle.

A short time after the phone call was received, the man entered the business and advised that he was with the lawn service. He then waited until the employee was busy with a customer before grabbing four bottles of Moet & Chandon Rose Champagne and ran out of the store.

The bottles carry a value of $360, according to police.

The man left the scene in the blue vehicle seen below.
