Two more teens arrested in drive-by shooting that killed 2, including 6-year-old child

Orlando police have arrested two more teenagers in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed two people, including a 6-year-old child who was sitting in her living room.

On Tuesday, Orlando Police Department homicide detectives arrested Ricky Raymond Bowery, Jr., 18, and Kny Adams, 17, on first degree homicide charges in connection with the shooting deaths of 6-year-old Ajahliyah Hashim and 19-year-old Isaiyah Wright.

On Saturday, September 2, police arrested 15-year-old Nico Brown in connection with the case as well.

The arrest comes days after a drive-by shooting in the 1100 block of Poppy Avenue.

During that incident on August 29, police responded to reports of a shooting and, upon arrival, located Hashim and her mother suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where Hashim passed away in the days that followed.

According to police, Hashim was sitting inside her living room when she was shot by stray bullets. She and her mother were not the intended targets of the shooting, police say.

Wright was located at Health Central Hospital a short time after the shooting and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Hashim was a student at Eagle’s Nest Elementary School, according to a statement issued by Orange County Public Schools Superintendent Maria F. Vazquez.

Law enforcement authorities are still asking the public for any information related to this incident. If you can share a tip with the police, call the Orlando Police Department at 321-235-5300, or the Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
