Man who spent 8 years in prison for bank robbery, wanted one day after release for another bank robbery

Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies are asking the public to help locate a man who, after spending eight years behind bars for bank robbery, allegedly robbed a bank a day after he was released from prison.

According to police, on Thursday, June 2, a man walked into the Truist Bank at 11200 S Orange Blossom Trail at around 9:55 a.m. and implied he had a gun before robbing the bank. Deputies say the suspect then forcibly carjacked a vehicle and fled the scene.

The suspect was later identified as 59-year-old Timothy Paul Jones, who was released from prison on Wednesday, June 1, after serving an eight-year sentence for bank robbery stemming from a case in 2013.

Jones is now wanted for new charges of armed bank robbery and carjacking. The stolen vehicle is a dark gray 2014 Toyota Camry with Florida tag DVST26

Authorities say it is possible that Jones has ditched the car and that he is traveling by bus. The vehicle has not yet been located and police will not say whether or not any money was actually stolen during the robbery, according to an OCSO report.
