Chinese restaurant on Colonial Drive closes for fourth time in less than a year

A popular Chinese restaurant along Colonial Drive was forced to temporarily close its doors last week after failing its fourth health inspection since last October.

Lam’s Garden, which is located at 2505 E Colonial Drive, was forced to close on Tuesday, September 5 after failing a health inspection conducted by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

According to the report, approximately 22 violations were cited during the inspection, including 2 considered high priority.

The inspector cited rodent activity as evidenced by approximately 16 rodent droppings found on top of a refrigeration unit and under a dish machine. Additionally, the business was cited for not maintaining chlorine sanitizer at the proper minimum strength.

The restaurant was reinspected later that day and was permitted to reopen, despite 7 violations remaining.

The closure comes less than three months after the restaurant was closed for multiple days due to failed health inspections. During two separate inspections on June 19 and June 20 of this year, the inspector found dozens of rodent droppings and had to issue a stop sale for multiple foods that were being kept under the required temperatures.

Last October, Lam’s Garden was forced to close its doors for one day after a health inspector cited at least 14 health code violations. Similarly, the inspector found dozens of rodent droppings around the restaurant during that inspection.
