21-year-old killed after ATV crashes into tree, falls down ditch

An Oviedo man was killed and another was seriously injured after their all-terrain vehicle crashed into a tree and fell into a ditch in Seminole County this weekend.

The fatal accident took place near the intersection of Barr Street and Florida Avenue on Saturday, October 7, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The men were traveling in a 2023 Polaris RZR XP1000 southbound on Barr Street, approaching Florida Avenue at around 5:17 a.m. For unknown reasons, the driver, a 24-year-old man from Oviedo, ran off the roadway and onto the west shoulder.

After running off the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree before falling down into a ditch.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 21-year-old Oviedo man, was transported to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with serious injuries.
