Orlando Pride place head coach, assistant on leave during workplace harassment investigation

The Orlando Pride has placed head coach Amanda Cromwell and first assistant coach Sam Greene on a temporary administrative leave as the team investigates accusations of workplace harassment.

On Tuesday morning, the team shared an official statement indicating that it had placed Cromwell and Greene on leave, effective immediately, “pending the results of the a current investigation.”

According to the organization, the decision came following recommendations from the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and the NWSL Players Association’s joint investigative team.

Assistant Coach Seb Hines has been appointed as interim head coach of the team until a final determination can be made.

Cromwell was announced as the new coach of the Orlando Pride six months ago. The job with the Pride was Cromwell’s first head coaching position after spending multiple years at the helm of college teams.

“Providing a respectful environment and adhering to all league policies are of the utmost priority for the Pride,” reads the statement.

The club says it will have no further comment until the conclusion of the process.

Currently, the Orlando Pride sit in ninth place in the NWSL, with a total of 8 points and a 2-2-3 record in 7 matches played.
