New virtual gun simulation facility opening near Orlando

A new, 43,000-square-foot training facility will offer the first immersive, virtual firearm experience to the public, giving civilians a chance to “walk in a police officer’s shoes” in crisis situations and other scenarios.

Decision Tactical is putting the final touches on its 43,000-square-foot training facility at 230 Towne Center Circle, within the Seminole Towne Center in Sanford.

The company claims to have built the “world’s most immersive scenario-based learning facility for first responders,” according to its website.

“First and foremost, D-TAC is a law enforcement training facility. We offer realistic, fully immersive training environments and courses for first responders and security professionals,” reads a statement from the company’s website. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage in “de-escalation and crisis situation training” through mock buildings and “realistic environments” that are designed specifically for law enforcement personnel.

The business also bills itself as a “bridge” between the civilian world and law enforcement and will offer four immersive scenarios, a high-tech shooting range, a competition course (i.e., “Run & Gun”).

Decision Tactical makes use of “simulated recoil weapons” and asks non-law-enforcement visitors to leave live weapons at home. A security screening is conducted before entering the D-TAC Armory and its experiences, according to the company.

“D-TAC features proprietary cutting-edge technology in real environments. We blur the lines between real and sim. This includes state-of-the-art simulation, tactile recoiling sim firearms and pepper spray, realistic environments, and the most detailed and advanced after-action review system,” reads a statement from the company’s website.

In addition to firearms training, the facility will feature a Mess Hall and Rec Room that offer a curated menu and full-service bar. The company says it is also equipped for parties and private events, with room to accommodate groups of “up to 1,000 people at a time.”

The business says it is “coming soon,” and no additional details have been provided about the opening.
