23-year-old accused of armed robberies at CVS pharmacies for drugs

A 23-year-old man allegedly admitted to police that he traveled from Jacksonville to carry out robberies of various pharmacies in Central Florida.

Thomas Mues was arrested on Saturday, October 21 by Orlando Police Department officers who were responding to reports of a burglary in progress at the CVS located at 4315 Curry Ford Road in Orlando.

Upon arrival, officers found Mues, who was identified as the suspect, walking out of the store. After a short foot pursuit, Mues was apprehended by police while he was in possession of a note and several containers filled with prescription drugs.

According to employees at the pharmacy, Mues allegedly entered the establishment and handed them a note in which he threatened to “shoot the closest person” next to him if they didn’t “cooperate.” Employees complied and provided Mues with the narcotics, which were found on his person while he was trying to flee.

Police say that while interviewing Mues, he allegedly admitted to traveling to Orlando from Jacksonville to carry out the plan. Police say Mues also confessed to a similar robbery that took place in the area.

During a similar incident that took place in Deltona recently, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office reported that a masked, armed suspect robbed a local CVS by hading the pharmacist a note with a “list of narcotics requested” and threatening to “shoot.”

Police did not confirm whether or not Mues was responsible for this incident, as the suspect was previously described as having a “cross tattoo between his eyes” and “unknown tattoos” on his cheekbones.

Mues faces multiple, felony drug trafficking and robbery charges in connection with the incident. He is currently incarcerated at the Orange County Jail.
