Orlando police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in June that claimed the life of a 50-year-old woman.
Tyrese Johnson, 33, was arrested on Tuesday by Orlando Police Department officers on a charge of second-degree murder with a firearm in connection with the fatal shooting of Joan Omeil Foster Taylor.
Foster was killed on Saturday, June 24, 2023, during a weekend that saw multiple fatal shootings across Orlando.
On that day, OPD officers responded to the Metro Place Apartments at 907 S. Kirkman Road at around 5:25 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located Foster, who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Foster was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center by Orlando Fire Department. She was treated for her injuries but ultimately succumbed to them hours after she arrived at the hospital.
Johnson is currently incarcerated at the Orange County Jail on no bond.
The evening before Foster was killed, 47-year-old Pedro Bautista Sanchez was found dead by gunshots in the 500 block of Verbena Court.
Hours after Sanchez was killed, 28-year-old Willie Alphonso Bell, Jr., was killed at the Unity Banquet Hall (2620 N Hiawassee Road), while three other individuals were injured as a result of a shooting.
