Low-fare airline coming back to Orlando International Airport

A low-fare airline that has been operating out of Sanford will return its service to Orlando’s largest airport.

Allegiant Air announced on Thursday that it will begin 12 new nonstop routes to “popular vacation destinations” this May, including three new routes to Orlando International Airport.

Although the airline has been operating out of Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) since 2005, Allegiant has not flown routes to or from the Orlando International Airport (MCO) in over a decade.

The new routes will include service between MCO and Asheville, North Carolina; Allentown, Pennsylvania; and Knoxville, Tennessee.

Routes begin in May 2024, and the company offered introductory fares “as low as $49” for tickets purchased by November 17.

“We are thrilled to offer Allegiant travelers new destination options taking off this Spring. The announcement of new service is a celebration of the success we’ve had in these markets,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s senior vice president of revenue and planning and chief revenue officer.

In addition to adding routes at MCO, the airline also added new routes from SFB to South Dakota, North Dakota, Illinois, Tennessee, and Oregon, among others.

The airline is one of several that have announced additional routes between the Orlando International Airport.

That includes Breeze Airways, which announced the addition of 14 nonstop routes throughout the country on November 8.
