Orange County officials say COVID-19 numbers declining

Orange County government and health officials say that COVID-19 numbers are declining across the region.

The updated information was provided as part of a press conference hosted by Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings on Wednesday afternoon.

“Our 14-day positivity rate is now 25.8%. At one point, I would have thought that was a terrible number. It’s a bad number, but it’s much better than it was. That is down 15 points from our last briefing on January 12, when our 14-day positivity rate was 40.79%” said Demings.

According to the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, as of this week, 365,411 residents have tested positive for coronavirus since the pandemic began. The number of residents that have passed away from COVID-19 is now 2,436, according to Mayor Demings.

According to the department of health, the 75% of eligible residents over the age of five have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.

Officials say 5,000 COVID tests are being administered every week.

For testing and vaccinations, residents may visit Barnett Park, located at 4801 W Colonial Drive. For testing only, visit the Econ Soccer Complex (8035 Yates Road) or South Orange Youth Sports Complex (11800 S Orange Avenue).
