Edgar L’Heureux Jr.

Edgar L’Heureux Jr. born May 16, 1939 in Gloversville, New York, passed away on June 10th. He was 83 years old, and a long-time resident of Central Florida moving to Winter Park with his family in 1945. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Myrna Laura Blanton L’Heureux and his parents Edgar Sr. and Dorothy and is survived by his son Scott (wife Nora) and daughter Stacey (husband James) and four grandchildren, Anne, Sarah, Megan and Bradley, Sister Elaine Daley and special friend MaryAnn McGee.

He was a proud graduate of Winter Park High School (1957) and is a member of the school’s Circle of Distinction. Ed graduated from Stetson University in 1961 with a dual major, history and Political Science, and also studied law at the University of Florida and Stetson University.

After training on Wall Street, New York in 1965 he started and owned an insurance and financial services business in Winter Park for 26 years.

Ed enjoyed playing baseball and tennis and hiking throughout his life. Later in his life, he began a second career when he began lecturing and writing books about his beloved Florida. He published 20 books about Florida, including short story collections and novels and lectured throughout the state on several different Florida topics.

Funeral services will be held at Tuscawilla Methodist Church on Red Bug Road at 11:00am on Saturday June 18th followed by a reception at the Winter Park Racquet Club. He will rest at Restlawn Cemetery in Port Charlotte, Florida next to his beloved wife, Laura.
