Driver going wrong way on I-4 killed in head-on collision

A 32-year-old woman who was driving her vehicle the wrong way on Interstate 4 was killed after she crashed head-on into another vehicle on the highway.

The fatal accident took place near the Lee Road exit of I-4, at around 4:35 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2021 Nissan Altima westbound in the I-4 East lanes, approaching mile marker 88 (Lee Road).

As it was traveling westbound, the Nissan collided head-on with a 2019 Kia Optima being driven by a 50-year-old woman from Orlando.

The driver of the Nissan, who was from Davenport, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Optima was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
