Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue performing in Orlando

Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue will take the stage in downtown Orlando this weekend.

Troy Andrews, who performs under his stage name, Trombone Shorty, will perform on Saturday, December 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts (445 S. Magnolia Avenue).

A musician from New Orleans, Louisiana, Andrews began playing trombone at four years old and has worked with some of the biggest names in rock, pop, jazz, funk, and hip-hop. He is the younger brother of trumpeter and bandleader James Andrews III and the grandson of singer and songwriter Jessie Hill.

Throughout his career, Andrews has released four chart-topping studio albums, performed four times at the Grammy Awards, five times at the White House, premiered on dozens of TV shows, and was honored with his own Muppet at the star-studded Sesame Street Gala.

In 2011, Andrews launched the Trombone Shorty Foundation to support youth music education. In 2015, he released his first children’s book and received a Caldecott Honor.
