Guatemalan chicken restaurant opens first Orlando location

A Guatemalan chicken franchise has opened its first location in Orlando as part of an aggressive expansion throughout Central Florida.

Pollo Campero officially opened its first location in Orlando at 2520 S Orange Avenue, in the South Downtown (SoDo) District.

Earlier this year, the restaurant chain celebrated the grand opening of its first location in Central Florida at 2731 E Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee.

The restaurant in SoDo replaces Five Guys, which ended its run at location last year after a decade in business.

Billed as the world’s largest chicken restaurant in Central America, Pollo Campero got its start in 1971 in Guatemala. There are currently around 80 locations across the United States and a few hundred around the world.

The two locations in the Orlando area join two others in Florida that opened their doors in Miami and Boynton Beach. The restaurant chain has plans for multiple additional locations across the state.

Pollo Campero prides itself on its hand-breaded chicken and freshly prepared dishes, with its signature drinks, sides, and salads all prepared fresh daily.

Chicken may be purchased grilled or fried, in individual, family, and group meals. For individuals, chicken may be ordered in 2, 3, and 4-piece combinations that include one or two sides.

Family meals range from 8-piece to 20-piece, and can also be purchased with nuggets instead of whole pieces.

In addition to chicken, Pollo Campero features a variety of sides, including french fries, Campero beans, Campero rice, and yuca fries.
