Louisiana-based salad chain expanding into Central Florida

A salad restaurant chain that was founded in Louisiana over a decade ago has announced plans to expand into the Central Florida market for the first time in the company’s history.

Salad Station announced that franchises are planned for Winter Park and Altamonte Springs, according to a statement issued by the company’s founder and CEO, Scott Henderson.

“Central Florida is an important area for us. Our Tampa location has been a tremendous success and we’d like to build off that along the I-4 corridor,” says Henderson.

Salad Station was founded by Henderson in 2012 in Hammond, Louisiana. Currently, there are franchises located in Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas, among other southern states. Currently, the location in Tampa is the chain’s sole restaurant in Florida.

Henderson, whose family operates the largest strawberry farm in the state of Louisiana, says he envisioned Salad Station to be sourced by local farms and to serve up food quickly.

Salad Station features a large collection of customizable options for its salads. Greens include kale, iceberg and romaine lettuce, zucchini noodles (“zoodles”), spring mixes, and baby spinach.

A variety of proteins are available to be added to salads, including chicken (grilled, breaded, buffalo), shrimp, imitation crab, ham, turkey, bacon, and pepperoni.

In addition to the proteins, legumes, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and other toppings may all be added to salads.

Limited information has been released regarding when construction may start on the new locations.

Salad Station is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to the company’s website.
