Orlando pedestrian killed by deputy’s vehicle in fatal accident

A 55-year-old man from Orlando was killed after he was fatally struck by a sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle while attempting to cross a local roadway.

The fatal accident took place near the intersection of W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and Celebration Avenue on Sunday, December 31, at around 1:16 a.m.

According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was walking in a northerly direction from the median of W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway into the westbound, inside lane.

The man, who was not in a marked crosswalk, entered the direct path of a Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Ford Explorer.

As a result, the front of the sport utility vehicle struck the man.

The man was transported to Celebration Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The deputy, a 28-year-old man from Kissimmee, was not injured in the crash.
