Orlando man wins $1 million from scratch-off purchased at Publix

An Orlando man claimed a $1 million prize from a scratch-off ticket he purchased at a local Publix.

David Nguyen claimed a $1 million prize at the Florida Lottery district office in Orlando this week. Nguyen chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.

Nguyen won the prize from a 500X The Cash scratch-off that he purchased at the Publix located at 10250 Curry Ford Road in Orlando. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The 500X The Cash scratch-off is a $50 game that features a top prize of $25 million, which is the largest ever offered on a Florida scratch-off. The overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.5.
