Suspect arrested in shooting that killed 1, left six others injured

Orlando police arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that killed on individual and left six others injured.

Wayne Anthony Grant, Jr. was arrested by members of the Orlando Police Department on Thursday, February 29. Grant is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm in connection with the shooting, which took place on Wednesday, February 28.

On that day, OPD officers responded to the area of Iron Wedge Drive and South Lake Orlando Parkway at around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located seven victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims was pronounced deceased at the scene. That individual has not been identified by police.

The other six victim were transported to the hospital. According to OPD, they are all in stable condition.

Grant is currently incarcerated at the Orange County Jail. Detectives are asking anyone with information related to the event to contact the Orlando Police Department at 321-235-5300
