Police: One killed in DeLand shooting, suspect at large

Detectives with the DeLand Police Department are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot and killed a victim early Saturday morning.

DPD officers were dispatched to the intersection of W Beresford Avenue and S Parsons Avenue at around 3:50 a.m. in reference to a person being shot in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a victim in the roadway who had sustained a gunshot wound, according to the police department.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Their identity is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.

Officers immediately began searching the area for a suspect. According to DPD, the suspect is a Hispanic male between the age of 25 to 35, and he was last seen wearing black shoes, black pants, a white shirt, and carrying a black backpack.

The suspect was last seen entering the Sha-De-Land Mobile Home Park located at 1100 S Woodland Boulevard.

“If you see this individual, please do not approach him as he is considered armed and dangerous,” stated DeLand police on social media. “Please contact law enforcement immediately.”
