Semi-truck driver killed in crash on I-95 in Brevard

A 64-year-old man died on Tuesday night after his semi-truck crashed along Interstate 95 in Brevard County.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was traveling northbound on I-95, near mile marker 184, at around 11:35 p.m.

FHP stated that the vehicle, a 2007 semi-truck with trailer, was in the outside lane when it veered across the center and inside lanes. The driver overcorrected by abruptly turning the steering wheel in the opposite direction, and the vehicle proceeded to cross all northbound lanes before heading off the roadway.

The semi-truck then entered the nearby woods before coming to a final rest.

The driver and sole occupant of the semi-truck sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene. A trooper noted in the report that it is unknown if the man was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver’s name was not released by the Florida Highway Patrol. The report stated that he was from Cutler Bay.

The crash remains under investigation.
