Orlando International Airport sets single-day record with over 200,000 passengers

Spring breakers recently helped Orlando International Airport (MCO) set a new single-day record for most passengers.

On March 16, 2024, a total of 102,064 passengers boarded flights departing MCO. When factoring in arriving flights, as well, the airport had 204,128 total passengers on March 16, which is the most the airport has ever seen in a single day.

The previous MCO daily passenger record was set on December 30, 2023, when 98,521 departing passengers passed through security at Florida’s busiest airport. On March 15, 2024, that number was surpassed, and the new record only stood for 24 hours before being broken again.

Earlier this month, MCO projected that the 2024 Spring Break season, a 44-day stretch that ends on April 7, would likely be the busiest.

Based on Orlando International Airport’s projections, two days at the end of March could come close to the record. MCO is expected to see a total of around 197,400 passengers on Saturday, March 30, while Easter Sunday on March 31 is projected to bring nearly 190,000 passengers.

“As MCO continues to see high passenger numbers, we are preparing for this growth as well,” stated the airport in a media release.

The airport’s new Reserved Parking program is now available, which allows travelers to log in online or on the MCO mobile app prior to arriving at the airport. After entering their vehicle information and making a payment, travelers will receive a QR code for easy access to Level 4 of Parking Garage C.

Currently, the Reserved Parking program is only operational in Garage C on Level 4. Space is limited, and approximately 715 parking spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis during the rollout of this program. The cost is $32 per day.

Surface Lot 1 now open at Orlando International Airport (1)
Several new surface lots have opened at Orlando International Airport.

In addition, MCO recently opened three new surface lots accessible with E-Pass and SunPass Plus. According to the airport, SunPass customers must be enrolled with Easy Pay, and a transponder must be used to enter and exit the lots.
