Wafu opens new Japanese waffle spot in Orlando to much fanfare

Dozens lined up on Wednesday for the grand opening of Wafu, a new Japanese-style waffle spot in Orlando’s East End Market.

In operation since 2020, Wafu celebrated the long-awaited grand opening of its new location on the second floor of the market, which is located at 3201 Corrine Drive. Fans waited in a line wrapped down two flights of stairs across the market.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and support while we got the space ready. We hope you like it,” reads a social media post from the company.

The business serves popular Japanese, fish-shaped waffles known as Taiyaki, that are made by combining flour, sugar, and baking soda. The waffles are then filled with either sweet or savory fillings.

The business is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Currently, Wafu is looking to hire additional staff, starting at $15 per hour, plus tips. All levels of experience will be considered, according to the restaurant.
