Roxanna Callo

Roxanna Callo died peacefully on April 17, in Longwood Florida at the age of 76.

Roxanna is survived by her husband Joseph, her daughter Tiffiny, her step son Fred, her 4 grandchildren, Laynie, Noah, Freddie and Carson, her little sister Shirley, and 4 nieces, Dawn, Ronnie, Shannon, Tonia and Nephew Shawn. She is preceded in death by both her parents and her identical twin sister Diana.

Roxanna was born on March 10th, 1948 in Poughkeepise NY to Donald and Elenor McDonald. She graduated from SUNY New Paultz State University with her Bachelors in Nursing in 1973 then with her Maters Degree in Health Administration also from SUNY in 1975. She was a RN at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center for 13 years. She married the love of her life Joseph, a Town of Poughkeepsie Police Lieutenant, on May 29, 1976.

In 1986 they moved to Las Vegas where Roxy became the Director of Nursing at the Nevada State Mental Health Hospital. Roxanna dedicated her life to Nursing and being of service to others in the mental health community for 40 yrs, from 1973-2013. She was a staunch advocate for mental health and her patients that suffered with mental health needs. Nana’s life work was spent being a compassionate nurse and mother to many.

Nanas funeral is scheduled for April 28, at noon, at DeGusipe Funeral Home at 9001 Orlando Ave, Maitland FL 32751. Reception to follow.
