Gwendolyn Rivenbark

Gwendolyn Rivenbark, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, & aunt; was called to her eternal resting place on April 21, 2024. She entered this world on December 10, 1939 in Atlanta, GA., & born to Curtis and Gertrude Derrick. She moved to Orlando, Florida in 1948.

Gwen and Bob met at College Park Baptist Church where they were long time members. Gwen was a graduate of Edgewater High School, class of 1957. Following high school she married Bobby, her all-star, high school sweetheart in June 1958. They were married for 65 years.

Gwen earned her Associates Degree in early childhood learning and worked as an educator (kindergarten teacher) for 32 years where she guided many young children to successful foundations. Gwen enjoyed traveling, gardening, crafting, and family time. She was a huge supporter of her grandchildren’s sporting events and followed them locally as well as across the country. She enjoyed her North Carolina mountain home where many happy memories were made with family and friends. Gwen liked the beach and fishing. She loved Sunflowers.

She is survived by her spouse of 65 years, Melvin Robert (Bob) Rivenbark; sons/daughters Laurie Roberts, Sherie Guttry, Rob Rivenbark, and Dan Rivenbark; sister-Doris Huckleberry; eleven grandchildren – John D Guttry, Austin Roberts, Rebecca Guttry, Lance Roberts, Rachel Guttry, Shoalton Roberts, Danelle Rivenbark, Miranda Rivenbark, Ashley Rivenbark, Kylie Rivenbark, Raelyn Rivenbark and six great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Gwen on Friday, May 3, 2024, 1pm at Highland Funeral Home, 3329 E. Semoran Blvd., Apopka, Florida. We would love for all to come and celebrate with us.
