It is with Great Sadness, that the Colon Family is announcing the passing of Carmen Amelia Perez Colon age 90 on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022.

Carmen also known as “Mela” was born in Camuy, Puerto Rico on June 18, 1932, the child of Francisco Perez and Lucia Carrillo. The cherished sister to Juan, Jorge, Tato, Antonio, Maro, Tea, Felipa, Juanita, Rosita, Herminia and Milagros.

A humble beginning from a small mountain town in Puerto Rico and eventually moving to the Big Apple, where she would eventually marry and move to the next chapter in her life of raising a family. The humble girl from Camuy grew to become a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Married in 1957 and survived by her husband of 65 years Felix R. Colon. Carmen was a loving mother to the following sons & daughters; Jose, Felix, Edward, Joey, Angelita, Maribel, Carmen, Judith, Nelida, Claribel and Elizabeth.

A beloved Grandmother to Tasha, Priscilla, Sharon, Maya, Gabriella, Kayla, Michelle, Naia, Felix, Jason, Roland, Daniel, Joey, Kevin and Edward.

A Great Grandmother to Nicole, Rebecca, Peter, Lucas, Amila, Catalina, Roland Jr, Noah, Nicolas and Phoenix.

Carmen was a generous, humble, kindhearted loving soul, who never hesitated to put others first and to take care of those in need even when she didn’t have much to give. She was brave, patient, trusted in God and never lost the faith no matter what came her way. Carmen fought the good fight and will always be remembered by her loved ones and those she touched along the way.

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and proud Child of God; her life a testament to unwavering faith, she embraced her calling in life and as the scriptures best describe her.

She carefully watches all that goes on in her household and does not have to bear the consequences of laziness. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!”.

Visitation is Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (Winter Park Chapel).

Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, July 11, 2022 at 11:00 am at San Pedro Center (Mary, Mother of God Chapel), 95 Bishop Grady Lane, Winter Park, FL 32792.

Interment will follow at the Queen of Angels Cemetery, Winter Park, FL.
