A 72-year-old woman was killed after her vehicle was involved in a head-on collision in Osceola County.
The fatal accident took place on Sunday, August 7, at around 11:23 p.m. near the intersection of State Road 60 and Peavine Road in Osceola County.
The woman, who was from Tampa, was driving a 2004 Kia Spectra westbound on SR 60, while another woman, a 40-year-old from West Palm Beach, was driving a 2012 Honda Accord eastbound on the highway.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the West Palm Beach woman failed to maintain the eastbound lane and entered into the westbound lane. Although both drivers tried to swerve to avoid a collision, the fronts of the vehicles collided.
The Tampa woman was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the West Palm Beach woman was transported to the Holmes Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
