Papa Gio’s closes again after third failed health inspection in past two months

Papa Gio’s was forced to temporarily close its east Orlando pizzeria for a third time this year, just two months after failing two separate health inspections for roach activity.

The restaurant, which is located at 16869 East Colonial Drive in the town of Chuluota, was temporarily closed on Wednesday, August 17, after a food health inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation cited 11 violations.

Among the violations were two considered high priority, including the presence of roach activity. The report indicates that the inspector found six live roaches around the kitchen, as well as multiple foods that were stored at improper temperatures.

Additionally, employees were wearing watches and bracelets while preparing food, which is considered a basic violation.

The business was reinspected on the same day and permitted to reopen after only 5 violations remained.

In June, the restaurant failed two health inspections on Wednesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 16. During those inspections, a total of 55 roaches were found by the inspector. The report indicates that a total of 45 live roaches were found all around the restaurant. The restaurant was permitted to reopen after a third inspection.
