Winter Park Playhouse joins other venues, lifts mask requirements

The Winter Park Playhouse is joining other local venues that are removing mask requirements for attendance at shows.

According to a press release from the playhouse, effective immediately, face coverings and masks will be optional in the lobby and theatre for “all patrons attending performances.”

“The Winter Park Playhouse has worked diligently over the past two years to remain a safe destination and would like to thank our patrons, staff, artists and volunteers for their cooperation during the global pandemic,” reads the release.

The change comes in light of the new guidelines put in place by the Centers for Decease Control and Prevention in response to a decline in COVID-19 cases.

The new health policy is effective immediately, according to the organization.

On Tuesday, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced that it was removing all mask restrictions. In January, that venue celebrated the opening of the state-of-the-art Steinmetz Hall.
