Thrown chair by student causes shooting scare at Winter Springs High School

Local police and school officials are dispelling rumors of a shooting at Winter Springs High School this morning, attributing the incident to a “disruptive student” who threw a chair.

Winter Springs Police Department officers responded to the school, which is located at 130 Tuskawilla Road, on Thursday, September 8, after receiving reports of possible shots fired.

Police say that the scene is under control and that the report that a shot was fired was inaccurate.

According to school officials, a student in the discipline office became upset and threw a chair, causing a loud disturbance.

“There were no shots fired on school property or in the vicinity,” reads a post from the police department’s social media accounts.

No injuries were reported.
