Man high on fentanyl arrested for child neglect after toddlers found running in Walmart parking lot

A man who was passed out in a vehicle after taking oxycodone and fentanyl was arrested for child neglect after two toddlers under his supervision were found running around in diapers in the Walmart parking lot.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a Walmart in Deltona on Wednesday, September 14 after receiving reports that two children, ages 2 and 3, were running around the Walmart parking lot wearing only diapers.

Witnesses say the children were running through the parking lot in the rain and were almost struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, police found 35-year-old Dejoune Killingbeck unconcious behind the wheel of a running vehicle. Killingbeck was supposed to be watching the children while their mother was in the store, according to police.

Killingbeck was disoriented and initially appeared to be unaware of what was happening. When searched, police discovered a cut straw in his pocket. That straw was tested and provided a positive result for the presence of oxycodone and fentanyl.
