Kissimmee, Osceola under water; emergency crews using airboats

The city of Kissimmee has experienced catastrophic flooding in light of heavy rainfall produced by Hurricane Ian, which has downgraded to a tropical storm.

Officials shared drone footage that shows the extent of the flooding, which has impacted neighborhoods, roads, businesses, and public spaces throughout Kissimmee. The drone footage was captured behind the HCA Osceola Hospital, near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Rose Avenue.

The city is asking all residents to shelter in place as first responders continue to work throughout the area.

Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies are reporting flooding across multiple major thoroughfares in the area, including Orange Blossom Trail and U.S. Highway 192.

Officials are asking all residents to stay in doors as several areas of the county are flooded with multiple feet of water.

According to an assessment by Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez, no major structural damage has been reported in the area, despite major flooding all around.
