Roads closed, flights canceled at Orlando International Airport as crews assess damage

Commercial flight operations have been cancelled for a second day at the Orlando International Airport as crews assess the damage caused by Tropical Storm Ian.

The airport ceased operations as of 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, and has put an emergency plan in place to secure the facility. All roads leading into the airport are currently closed due to flooding, as crews perform a damage assessment throughout airport facilities.

Road closures include all major and secondary arteries, including Jeff Fuqua Boulevard, Heintzelman Boulevard, Bear Road, and Cargo Road.

Airport officials say the that commercial operations are expected to resume sometime Friday, September 30, pending the damage assessment.

Travelers are advised to contact airlines directly for information about specific flights.
