3 arrested after burglarizing Orange County business, getting stuck on flooded road

Three individuals were arrested by Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies after they burglarized an Orange County dollar store and got stuck along a flooded stretch of road while trying to flee.

During an update from Orange County officials regarding the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, Orange County Sheriff John Mina provided a brief overview on his deputies’ responses across the county.

Sheriff Mina says that OCSO personnel rescued more than 40 people and 3 dogs from neighborhoods and other facilities that experienced massive flooding.

Before the storm, Mina warned that anyone perpetrating crimes during or in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian would be punished to a greater extent than normal.

On Thursday evening, Mina says that three individuals tried to burglarize the Family Dollar located at 1025 Apopka-Vineland Road, in Orlando. As the suspects were leaving the area, they became stuck in an area flooded with water.

Mina says that deputies were able to quickly apprehend the suspects and take them into custody without incident.

If you see someone committing a crime on a shuttered business or an evacuated home, contact 9-1-1 or the Orange County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 407-836-4357.
