Orlando police investigating early morning homicide on Colonial Drive

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an early morning shooting in west Orlando that claimed the life of a man.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a parking lot in the 6200 block of West Colonial Drive on Monday, October 3, at around 4:18 a.m. after receiving calls regarding shots fired.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered a man in his 20s who had been shot. He was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The man has not been identified by police.

Authorities say that information gathered at the scene indicated there was a large fight that was followed by gunfire. Deputies say they have made contact with a person that they believe was involved in the gunfire.
