The city of Winter Springs lifted its water boil notice today after issuing the advisory nearly a week ago in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
The precautionary boil water notice that was issued on Thursday, September 29, has been lifted as of Wednesday afternoon, according to a statement released by city officials.
Residents of the city may resume regular use of potable water after flushing home water lines.
“We encourage all residents to flush all faucets and water lines in their homes by letting their faucets run uninterrupted for 5 minutes,” reads the statement.
Water in ice makers and fridge water dispensers should be disposed before usage as well.
“This will ensure that fresh water is brought into your homes. Drain/flush and refill hot water heaters if discoloration exists,” reads the statement.
During the past week, Winter Springs emergency personnel worked to fix multiple water main breaks across the city.
The lift comes after a week of continual flooding in parts of Seminole County due to overflow from the St. John’s River and various lakes.
Earlier on Wednesday, city officials announced the reopening of several parks in the area as well.
