Two people have been detained in connection with a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a woman on Curry Ford Road.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Curry Ford Road and Sanctuary Point Boulevard on Tuesday around 12:45 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV was disabled in the travel lanes of westbound Curry Ford Road. The female driver, who was standing outside of the vehicle, was struck by a westbound box truck, which also struck her SUV.
The box truck fled the scene westbound on Curry Ford Road and was followed by a witness who contacted law enforcement. The box truck was secured and two occupants are currently being interviewed.
A passenger in the SUV was transported to AdventHealth East with minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol are not disclosing the location of the box truck.
