Man killed while laying down on Colonial Drive

A man who was laying down on Colonial Drive was killed when he was run over by a vehicle.

The fatal accident took place on Wednesday, November 9, just before 9 p.m., near the intersection of West Colonial Drive and N Kirkman Road.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 26-year-old Orlando woman was driving a 2023 BMW X6 eastbound on the inside lane of Colonial Drive, just east of N Kirkman Road.

The woman says she was unable to see a pedestrian that was laying down in the eastbound, inside lane of the highway. As a result, her the undercarriage of her vehicle struck the man.

He was pronounced deceased on the scene and the medical examiner’s office is currently working to identify him.

The woman was not injured and remained on the scene.
