Jennifer Moon-sun Kim

Jennifer Moon-sun Kim, 77, of Maitland, Florida passed away peacefully in her home on November 26, 2022 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on May 3, 1945 in South Korea to Jong-kyu and Ho-choon (Lee) Kim.

Jennifer graduated from Ewha Girls’ High School in 1963, Yonsei University with a degree in nursing in 1967 and came to the United States in 1970 to work as a nurse and furthered her education with a MSN from Boston University in 1979. Her nursing career spanned all across the country from New York, Massachusetts, Iowa and finally arrived in Florida in 1986. She worked for 23 years as a school nurse with the Orange County Public Schools system mostly at Colonial High School serving special needs children and retired in 2011.

Her hobbies included spending time with her beloved grandchildren, listening to classical music, reading, gardening, exercising and practicing yoga and tai chi. As a longtime resident of Central Florida she enjoyed attending concerts by the Orlando Philharmonic, visiting the beautiful Leu Gardens and taking quiet, early morning walks around Lake Lily.

She is survived by her spouse Edward, sons Bernard and Jonathan (Kimberli), grandchildren Malcolm and Martin, siblings Jimmy, John (Mi-keung) and Sunny (Terry), and nieces/nephews Gloria, Daniel, Jennifer, Nancy, and William.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals who looked after her. A special thank you to her many caregivers who provided exceptional care, kindness and love over many years – Youmi, Alex, Jackie, Ariel, Eun, Mimi, Mary Lynn, Chris and Dontae. As per her wishes, she will be cremated and a small private ceremony will be held in her honor.
