A mother of four, a teenager, and a 38-year-old man were all killed and two other people were injured during a shooting at an Orlando park on Easter Sunday.
Orlando Police Department officers responded to Poppy Park, which is located at 5400 block of Lescot Lane, on Sunday, April 9, at around 6:50 p.m. after receiving calls regarding a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located five individuals who were suffering from gunshot wounds, including three individuals who passed away: 38-year-old Jamal Watson, 16-year-old Tristan Morgan, and 33-year-old Patriza Deterville.
On Monday afternoon, police reported that one of the adults is still in critical condition and the other sustained a non-life-threatening injury.
Police have been dispelling false rumors posted on social media that have incorrectly indicated that the incident included the passing of a toddler.
“We ask the media and public for patience and cooperation as we work through this tragic incident so that we can obtain facts of what occurred,” reads a statement from OPD.
Detectives are still working to obtain all factual and investigative information regarding the incident and possible suspect. Authorities say they will provide a detailed briefing later this week.
Friends and family have taken to social media to mourn the losses of Morgan, Watson, and Deterville, who was a mother of four children. According to family, Deterville had lost her mother just four months prior.
