The fire was contained and extinguished and no homes were involved. No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.

Authorities believe the fire was possibly started by lightning, but have not yet confirmed that.

The brush fire joins several others that have taken place over the past few weeks.

On April 1, Seminole County Fire Department units responded to a brush fire that broke out in a wooded area in a residential neighborhood along Vista Oak Drive in Longwood.

The following day, another brush fire broke out in the Lake Harney Woods in Geneva. Over 25 units from SCFD and Volusia County responded to the area and encountered a fire that spread to over 2.5 acres.

A burn ban has been in effect for the past month across multiple counties in Central Florida, including Orange, Osceola, Seminle, and Volusia. As of April 19, most of Central Florida is experiencing severe drought conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
