Another brush fire broke out in Seminole County this week, joining several others that have occurred while the area still experiences severe drought conditions.
Crews from the Seminole County Fire Department and Oviedo Fire Rescue responded to a brush fire along Murphy Street in the city of Oviedo on Tuesday, April 18.
According to authorities, the fire was spread out over an area approximately 100 feet by 50 feet in size.
The fire was contained and extinguished and no homes were involved. No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
Authorities believe the fire was possibly started by lightning, but have not yet confirmed that.
The brush fire joins several others that have taken place over the past few weeks.
A burn ban has been in effect for the past month across multiple counties in Central Florida, including Orange, Osceola, Seminle, and Volusia. As of April 19, most of Central Florida is experiencing severe drought conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
