On Sunday, April 23, 2023 Linda Kay Albers passed away after a planned one night stay in AdventHealth hospital that unfortunately turned into seven weeks of hospital care until her unfortunate passing. She was the biological mother of two sons, Todd and Scott. She was also the biological grandmother of two grandsons, Austin and Brandon. She also has a brother, Lynn Freeman. Linda was born, Linda Kay Hodgdon, in Arkansas to her biological father Linwood A. Hodgdon of Revere, Massachusetts and her Mother Barbara Ann (Freeman) Hodgdon of Detroit, Michigan.
Linda grew up as a young girl in Modero, California until her mother’s passing at a young age. Linda and her brother were then adopted by their grandparents Wesley K. Freeman and Loretta (Cousineau) Freeman who moved them back with them to Detroit, Michigan.. Linda’s name became Linda Kay Freeman. Linda graduated from Saint Francis de Sales High School in Detroit, Michigan in 1962. Linda then earned her Nursing degree at the Mercy College of Detroit graduating on June 5, 1966 and she went on to practice as a nurse.
Linda later married Gerry Albers and her name became Linda Kay Albers. She later had their two sons Todd Jason Albers and Scott Wesley Albers. They lived in Dayton, Ohio for a few years and then later resided in Ormond Beach, Florida where she and her husband raised their two sons. In the early 1990’s Linda earned her Masters from Stetson University and practiced as a licensed mental health counselor.
Of all of her accomplishments in life, she would say that her greatest is being a Mother and Grandmother (Nana). She was fantastic as both. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and person. She always had a smile for everyone she met. She was and is very much loved. And she will be missed. But, we celebrate that she is now with God and that she is now in a place more comfortable than this world could ever offer.
A ceremony in Linda’s honor will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, May 6 at Winter Oak Funeral home at 1132 E. Plant Street Winter Garden, FL 34787.
