29-year-old pedestrian killed crossing Turnpike

An Orlando man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Turnpike.

The fatal accident took place near mile marker 259 on the Florida Turnpike/State Road 91 at around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 29-year-old Orlando man was walking in an easterly direction when he entered the northbound lanes of the Turnpike. Upon entering the lanes, he walked into the direct path of a 2017 Ford Fusion being driven by a 36-year-old Apopka man.

The Fusion struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene.
