A 41-year-old man was arrested as he was walking out of an Orlando bank that he robbed moments before after police were tipped off by a silent alarm.
Orlando Police Department officers arrested Christopher Lawson on Friday, May 5, on a charge of armed robbery.
According to OPD, East Patrol Units responded to the Fifth Third Bank located at 5351 S. Semoran Boulevard at around 9:36 a.m. in reference to a hold-up alarm.
The OPD Communications Center made phone contact with the bank and confirmed that there was a robbery in progress. The monitoring company provided a description of the suspect.
As Lawson exited the bank, officers made contact with him and placed him under arrest.
While speaking with OPD Violent Crimes Detectives, Lawson admitted to robbing the bank and wrote an apology letter for his actions.
According to authorities, Lawson was previously convicted of bank robbery in 2012. Court records show that he was wanted in Ohio for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He is currently being held at the Orange County Jail.
