Crews knock down fire that blazed through DeLand garage

Multiple emergency units were called to the scene of a fire that tore through a garage at a DeLand home on Thursday.

DeLand Fire Department crews responded to the 500 block of Shopes Place on June 8 after receiving reports of smoke in a structure.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a working fire and observed smoke coming from a home’s garage area.

Crews worked quickly to knock down the fire, containing it to the garage.

According to authorities, all occupants of the home were able to evacuate before emergency crews arrived.
