Walt Disney World officials released photos this week showing progress of a new ride coming to Magic Kingdom, which was recently named the world’s most visited theme park.
On Tuesday, Disney Imagineers installed a water tower that will function as the centerpiece for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a ride based on Disney’s The Princess and the Frog. The new ride replaces Splash Mountain, which ended its 33-year run at the park in January.
“The blue skies and sunshine of Frontierland at @WaltDisneyWorld are looking a bit more regal this morning,” reads a post from the company’s Twitter account.
The new ride will illuminate with a celebration during Mardi Gras season hosted by Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen. Additionally, the movie’s popular character Mama Odie will reprise her role for the ride.
In addition to the matriarch fairy, the ride will feature a brand new cast of original Disney characters with distinct names and personalities, and dozens of audio-animatronics figures.
The ride will also feature original music and the smell of beignets being wafted through the attraction.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is scheduled to open sometime in late 2024 at the park.
