Motorcyclist killed, woman arrested for DUI after pulling out of parking lot

A 61-year-old woman is facing multiple felony charges after she allegedly pulled her vehicle out of a parking lot and into the direct path of a motorcycle, killing the rider.

Christine Robison, of DeBary, was arrested early Sunday, July 16 on charges of driving under the influence and DUI manslaughter, in connection with a fatal accident that took place the night before.

At around 10:49 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, members of the Orange City Police Department and Orange City Fire Rescue responded to the intersection of N. Volusia Avenue and W. Minnesota Avenue regarding a vehicle crash.

According to police, earlier that evening, a 2023 Lexus 4-door vehicle pulled out of the parking lot of Destination Orange City. The vehicle entered the northbound lane, where it was struck by a 2004 Suzuki being driven by 37-year-old Justin W. Evans.

The resulting collision caused Evans to be ejected from his motorcycle.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found Evans and immediately transported him to AdventHealth Fish Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Robison was not injured in the crash. According to authorities, following the crash, Robison showed signs of possible impairment. During their investigation, police determined that Robison had been driving under the influence.

Robison was arrested and transported to the Volusia County Jail. She was released less than five hours later after posting bail.
