Kissimmee woman killed crossing road by vehicle that fled scene

A 37-year-old woman was killed while she was attempting to cross an Osceola County road after she was struck by a pickup truck that fled the scene.

The fatal accident occurred at 11:50 p.m. on Friday, August 11, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The woman was walking in a westerly direction from the east shoulder to the west shoulder of Poinciana Boulevard, at its intersection with Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway.

As the woman was walking, she walked into the direct path of a vehicle while she was not in a marked crosswalk.

That vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, struck her and fled the scene afterwards.

The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The truck was recovered in a parking lot nearby a short time after, but the driver had fled the scene.
