Car submerged after boat owner leaves vehicle in reverse during launch

A car had to be retrieved out of a local lake on Labor Day after a boat owner left his vehicle in reverse while he was attempting to launch his vessel.

The incident took place on Monday at the Chisholm Park Ramp, which is located at 4700 Chisholm Park Trail on East Lake Tohopekaliga in St. Cloud.

According to the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department, the owner of the boat was attempting to launch the boat and accidentally left his vehicle in reverse.

The owner says the vehicle backed over his foot while it was rolling away, but that he did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

There were no passengers inside the vehicle at the time of its submergence. St. Cloud Police Department’s Marine Patrol responded to the scene immediately to assist.

At the time, the boat launch was closed, but was reopened after a crew from Towlando Towing and Recovery removed the vehicle from the body of water.
